Incorporated in 1975, Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver has a mandate, as is set out in the items of its statutes and bylaws:
Organize shows in French and exhibitions of the work of Francophone and Francophil artists to cultivate an appreciation for the arts among the Vancouverites.
Promote education by offering French-language educational services and programs to residents of the Vancouver metropolitan area (library, video library, language courses, summer camp, etc.)
Promote public participation in the Centre's activities
Acquire and manage the property required for the Centre's activities.
Thus, Le Centre presents professional calibre events and shows, offering the population of Vancouver access to artistic products in the French language or from francophone culture in the sectors of visual arts, media arts and performing arts. In addition, Le Centre offers a panoply of educational services to anyone who is interested in the activities of Le Centre, whether or not they speak French.
All services, programmes or activities of Le Centre must support the objectives of Le Centre, either directly or indirectly, in light of their content or in their mode of distribution.
