Studio 801 Fundraiser to help Women in the Downtown Eastside

Studio 801 Fundraiser to help Women in the Downtown Eastside

Jul 04, 2008

Students at the School of Architecture at UBC and architect Inge Roecker have spent the past year researching and designing a woman-centered pharmacy as an answer to the unsafe and often exploitative options in the Downtown Eastside.

This project is a collaboration between the Vancouver Women’s Health Collective, UBC Architecture and Central City Foundation. The Centre will provide space for Lu’s (a Pharmacy for women), a nurse and doctor’s office, a facility for naturopathic treatment and a new home for the Vancouver Women’s Health Collective. The goal is to use sustainable and recycled materials to provide all women with a centre for health and advocacy.

The project is slated for completion in September 2008 and is still in need of funding in order to make it a reality. Boneta restaurant has joined forces with Studio 801 to have a fundraising dinner event Sunday, July 13, 2008. Executive Chef Jeremie Bastien and his team have created a beautiful summer menu for the event.
