Cinework's LAIR Program for 2012 features the work of Cindy Mochizuki, an interdisciplinary artist working in installation, audio, performance, drawing, video, webworks and animation. Cindy's works explore relationships between memory and history, and the construction of narratives that combine both the documentary and the imagined.
The public is invited to attend this free artist talk down in Cinework's Annex Space in Gastown, in the historic Iron Works Building (235 Alexander Street). An informal open house of our facilities including our dark room will follow.
For her residency, Cindy has been working on a new project, Shiro Yagi, which will take the only piece of sheet music from her maternal grandfather's archives as a starting point into her new narrative. Shiro Yagi will have an open studio during SWARM 2012 and premiere as a full length installation and performance in the Fall of 2012 at Cineworks' Annex Space.
