From Jun 07, 2012 - 06:00 PM till Jun 07, 2012 - 09:00 PM at Jennifer Kostuik Gallery
Summer has arrived at the Jennifer Kostuik Gallery! Warm oranges, sunlight yellows, touches of mint greens, soft greys and glowing reds are illuminated in iridescent metallic silver, all evoking qualities of light and expanding thoughts of space. You are invited to the gallery's last artist opening until the fall, to view this stunning and long awaited series of paintings by Steven Goring.

"The accompanying images in my search strengthened thoughts and feelings about mounds. Mounds have a silence about them but are mysterious to me. Burial mounds make me wonder about the contents that are covered up or hidden. The images of burial mounds, being small hills, seem to naturally blend into the landscape even though they are artificially made. These thoughts and ideas led me to construct my own mounds in the landscape."

Steven Goring's artist talk at 7pm will explore the new theme of this series, as well as touch on the artist's influences, namely abstract expressionist painters such as Barnett Newman, the music of composer Philip Glass, the seasonal qualities of light at his studio on Vancouver Island, BC. Acquiring one of Goring's paintings brings a bit of beautiful British Columbia into your home.
