In a village in south western Poland stands an old, ravaged, German evangelical church – a victim of the often troubled history of this region, and a shell of its former glory. On May 10 at 7:30pm as part of the Thursday Artist Talk speaker series at the Surrey Art Gallery, Surrey photographer Janusz Leszczynski – who was born a short distance from the church – will share the story of The Chapel. Leszczynski will also show other examples of his award-winning photography. Admission is free.
 
After years of working long and stressful hours, Janusz Leszczynski looked to his youth for inspiration, and re-discovered photography. Coming from technical background, he sees photography as a natural choice as it combines art and technology, while enabling him to express the beauty of nature and human creation.
In 2006, he bought his first ‘serious’ digital camera, took a few evening courses, joined Flickr and later Surrey Photography Club. Now, Leszczynski is more passionate about photography than ever, especially architectural and landscape images.
 
There will be time for questions and conversation during and following the talk. The event concludes by 9pm. Refreshments are provided. This event is presented by the Surrey Art Gallery Association in partnership with the Surrey Art Gallery, and with support from the Arts Council of Surrey.
