Catalog Gallery is pleased to present the medium format photography of Vancouver based artist | photographer | producer Jesse Savath. The work is a stunning collection of photos taken on the backroads of America.
“The Blue Highways is a style of road trip travel about taking two lane roads wherever you go. No interstates allowed. It’s about exploring the forgotten routes of the US. What were once thriving towns are now lost, dying. They have been slowly fading for decades and only a few dedicated citizens have stayed to keep them alive. Avoiding fast food and chain motels you are given the opportunity to explore true Americana.
My Volvo station wagon was comfortably packed with clothes, a foamy, my Nikon D200 and a Hasselblad 500 medium format camera. Three months alone to explore a full circle of the US, I never planned my route with more than one day’s notice. Everyday a map would direct my path and I never knew what to expect. One quickly realizes that it would take their entire lifetime to explore every road in that vast country. This is a collection of medium format shots from that trip. ”
