Sex Talk in the City is a multi-year, multifaceted exhibition project that explores the evolution of "sex talk" in Vancouver. It addresses issues of sexual expression, diversity and education.
The exhibition probes how sexuality has been discussed in the public sphere (at school, in the media, in popular culture) and how these conversations have impacted the way people and communities self-identify and relate to each other. The exhibition also examines how conceptions of sexuality materialize in ubiquitous ways in our lives in the form of public events, laws, objects and images. The project will feature diverse perspectives while highlighting issues and concerns often shared across age, gender, ethnicity, and sexual orientations.
Sex Talk in the City is a co-production of Options for Sexual Health and the MOV. The project also involves the participation of Vancouver Queer Film Festival, Vancouver School Board, public health experts, sexologists, education scholars, historians, artists, activists, and youth.
