Peter Kiss: The Usual Madness
7/2/2010 - 8/3/2010

Peter worked for two years as a marine biologist before returning to the University of British Columbia for a degree in architecture. He worked for six years as an architect before becoming a full-time artist in 1990. In July 2001, Peter opened his own gallery on Granville Island and has since been busy creating new work.

“I approach my work with neither a personal nor social agenda. Each piece is its own exploration of form, composition, and colour, with the assigning of a name coming after its completion. By not naming the pieces initially, the original composition idea can evolve. This evolution not only applies to the physical form, but also to what or who the piece is. Clearly, some do come with their own agenda,” says Kiss.

His work can also be found at exhibits in both the Croft Gallery (Calgary) and The Lounge Collection (Tofino, BC). In addition to showcasing his artwork in these settings, Peter is often invited to participate in a variety of community and cultural exhibitions.

Integration Ceramics
8/6/2010 - 8/31/2010

Joe Gelinas, Sandra Carr, Cathi Jefferson

This collaboration provides an opportunity to explore the possibilities of what we can create together. Working with our respective materials - wood and clay - we will create one-of-a-kind functional pieces integrated to demonstrate how art is part of every day life.

Wayne Harjula
9/3/2010 - 10/5/2010

This exhibition features a collection of illuminated glass sculptures. Harjula draws inspiration from jellyfish and simple undersea organisms. He uses many different types of glass, mostly recycled, and creates his own language from found and reclaimed materials for some of his chandeliers.
