The Pendulum Gallery was 1825 Main Mall, Vancouver, BC, Canada created under the City of Vancouver's amenity bonus program as a legacy to enhance the experience of living and working in the downtown core. Opened in 1986, the light infused seven story soaring glass-covered atrium hall is a dramatic setting for art exhibitions. The atrium also offers the Cafe Ami, a popular eating-place with a relaxed seating area.

T & T False Creek
2/5/2010 - 3/3/2010

Opening Reception: Friday, Feb 5, 6-8 pm

The Pendulum Gallery is pleased to announce a special exhibition to take place during the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Commissioned by the gallery and organized in conjunction with local curator and Emily Carr University Associate Professor Patrik Andersson, Canadian artists Tony Romano and Tyler Brett (T&T) will be presenting False Creek, a site-specific series of sculptures constructed out of recycled cars, boats and other found materials. The exhibition also includes a large-format panoramic print and a limited edition drawing related to the sculptural works.  A catalogue with essays by Jordan Strom and Patrik Andersson will be published and available during the exhibition.

The work of T&T reflects on ideas of sustainability, green architecture and technological progress. Their artworks frequently include elements of natural systems such as solar power and organic filters in conjunction with recycled and reconfigured technology. Over the course of their diverse artistic practice, they have developed a survivalist-informed aesthetic, creating whimsical, yet critically considered artworks that provide astute commentary on our historical moment.

False Creek is a participating exhibition in the three-part series When the Hosts Come Home organized by Other Sights for Artists’ Projects to address issues of sustainability as it relates to the development and organization of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
