Also known as ‘The Rise’, South Granville has been the centre of the Western Canadian art world since the sixties. With the greatest concentration of art and antique galleries in Vancouver, South Granville has become a haven for art lovers. No place in Western Canada can compete with this area for exposure to art collectors, investors and dealers. However, the presence of high-end boutiques and easy accessibility to the public have caused rent prices to soar in recent years, making it difficult for emerging artists to show their work on The Rise.

ON THE RISE ARTIST COLLECTIVE was founded to advance the careers of talented emerging and established visual artists by enabling them to showcase their art on South Granville in a low-risk environment by renting space as a collective. In doing so, these artists gain tremendous visibility to art collectors, dealers and other art professionals, which aids in career development. Furthermore, ON THE RISE fosters networking and collaboration between members through group shows with all sales going directly to the artists.

Members of ON THE RISE rent wall or floor space within the gallery for a one month period and are able to exhibit twice every year. Therefore, with art rotating monthly, there is always something new at ON THE RISE.
